   Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress at sunrise and explore the cave temples of Dambulla.

3. Day 4

   Polonnaruwa

   Cycle among the ruins of the medieval capital and its great stone Buddhas.

4. Days 5–6

   Kandy

   Visit the Temple of the Tooth and the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya.

5. Days 7–8

   Nuwara Eliya & Ella

   Tea country, then the celebrated hill-country train ride to Ella.

6. Days 9–10

   Return to Colombo

   Drive back to the coast for your onward departure.
